10x10

NEXT EVENT: JANUARY 26, SARASOTA MUSEUM OF ART

The 10x10 events showcase and introduce a diverse group of leaders and creative minds from our community.  Every few months, 10 speakers present 10 images of their work, interest, or inspiration.  Slides advance automatically every 30 seconds with brief introductions between speakers.  The 10x10s are intended as informal and fast-paced events.  Past speakers have included curators, painters, politicians, architects, environmentalists, chefs, musicians, curators, museum directors, graphic designers, anthropologists, and a mathematician.  The event has been organized since 2009 by architect Michael Halflants of Halflants + Pichette Architects under the auspices of the American Institute of Architects as a community outreach event.  On a number of occasions, Michael has relied on painter Tim Jaeger, editor Lisl Liang, and journalist Cooper Levey-Baker to help select our speakers.  The 10x10s take place from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm every 4 months.  Presentations start at 6:00 pm.  Admission is $15 per person to help cover the cash bar and the room reservations. The events regularly draw 250 to 300 attendees.

The 10x10 is open to the public and is organized in association with the Gulf Coast Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
